ELIGIBILITIES & RULES

A- General Eligibility & Rules

  1. Participation is free. Both local and international entries are welcome.
  2. Deadline for submissions: January 5, 2016. SUBMIT HERE
  3. Material must not present any culturally, religiously or sexually offensive content.
  4. Festival Selection Board will allow up to 2 entries by the same student, but not in the same category.
  5. Entrant will allow usage of footage, but films will never be screened without the entrant’s approval.
  6. Students must be aged between 16 and 28 years old.

B- The Categories:

To be eligible for entry, short films must fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Documentary: a factual report on a chosen subject or idea.
  2. Fiction: an original fictitious story of any genre.
  3. Animation: a story told by giving life to inanimate objects or character designs.
  4. Screen Play: an original story (not based upon previously published material).

C- The Prizes & Awards:

  1. The best film in each category will receive a cash prize as well as the ORIGINAL NARRATIVE trophy, presented at the Original Narrative Awards Ceremony to the director. There will only be one winner per category.
  2. Selected films will be provided with all the necessary details via email by January 20th, 2016.
  3. The films that are not shortlisted will be notified via email by January 20th, 2016.
  4. All decisions are final, and the Festival Selection Board reserves the right to not provide any justification and/or comments regarding non-qualifying entries.

 

D- Eligibility by Category:

For the Documentary, Fiction & Animation categories:

  1. Length of Fiction and Documentary between 5 and 25 minutes; Animation up to 25minutes; including credits.
  2. Production date not to exceed 2 years back.
  3. All vdeos to be submitted to the website in MP4 format H264. How do I convert my video to MP4 format H264?
  4. If shot in a language other than english, entries must contain english subtitles.
  5. Entry must include a letter of enrollment from entrant’s university (or attestation of workshop participation) at the time of production.
  6. No film may use COPYRIGHTED material including music, TV shows, or movies.

 

For the Screen Play category only:

  1. Script should not exceed 25 A4 pages, with font specifications as such: 12pt, Courier font, standard margins.
  2. Script completion date not to exceed 2 years back.
  3. Story must be original (not based upon previously published material).
  4. Format to be uploaded to the website in pdf or docx.
  5. If written in a language other than English, the uploaded file must also include an English translation.
  6. Entry must include a letter of enrollment from entrant’s university (or attestation of workshop participation) at the time of production.
